I love collecting old things—worn, weathered and torn things.
I’m especially drawn to old photographs—
rescuing them from abandoned family albums or old yearbooks
in order to breathe new life into them.
I see layers of story within each face—
the formal settings, awkward poses and forced smiles
are the perfect canvas on which to recreate the story…
or piece together the untold story.
Photographs are about capturing a moment in time—
yet, by layering on paint, stitching, images and charms,
I’m attempting to carry the story far beyond that moment…
pointing to something we can only imagine.
Mixed media/collage on paper (old photographs, acrylic paint, thread, vintage charms)
